projects - private house, mull
the plan is based on the scottish islands tradition of the long-house. the 2-storey residence is wrapped entirely in a protective, highly-insulated cloak to the north, covering the roof and walls as a single element offering minimal openings. the ‘cloak’ terminates towards the southern part of the house to reveal a warmer timber-clad and glazed southerly elevation. living spaces are placed above bedrooms to provide elevated views of the surroundings.
